"Burgeoning alternative duo Monitor is due to release their album Memorand this summer. Until then, we’ve got the exclusive premiere of the title track right here for you.
Graceful, steadied, intricate. The song starts with pointed notes, almost playing with dissonance in the first few stances, eventually layering in other instrumentals among the words. With a sporadic, building melody, the song’s percussion speeds it up slightly, serving as the perfect framework for the soothing vocals.
This track is perfect to relax to, but it’s also strangely amazing to dance to. Just imagine yourself in a calm trance – if you aren’t already there – and realize you can do anything with “Memorand”."
lyrics
Play it again.
Enter the grid,
It's medicine down your throat.
You don't know how you got here,
though you've been a million times.
You don't know how to stop it
or if you'd even try.
Are you real, or just alive?
Play it again.
A kiss on the lips,
It's medicine down my throat.
But what if we slip?
What your eyes can't see,
I don't want to know.
I can still feel the weather on my face,
and it hurts to wonder:
Are you real, or just alive?
Play it again,
Play it again,
All of the medicine down my throat.
